What we're seeing
At Butte County Special Education, the student:teacher ratio has risen 58% over the 5-year window — from 5.2:1 in 2020 to 8.2:1 in 2024. The gap vs US average of 15.4:1 has narrowed — from 10.2:1 below in 2020 to 7.2:1 below in 2024.
